Dr. Wu integrates mindfulness with psychodynamic psychotherapy, underscoring commonalities in both practices. According to the patient’s psychological needs she may bring to the fore explicit mindfulness training, in the style of MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction), by walking the patient through in-session exercises and aiding in the development of body-centered and non-judgmental awareness skills.
She may also call upon structured therapeutic models of MBCT (Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy) based on integrating the value of non-judgmental awareness, focusing of attention, positive psychology, and emotional tolerance.
